When a large supermarket retailer – one of the top 3 in the UK visited the company recently to conduct a manufacturing audit, they were so impressed with the outputs of the RCM Masterclass it became the focus of their attention on the day. The company, a large multi-national Aluminium Cylinder Head Foundry had tried many manufacturing initiatives previous to the RCM MasterClass. “Quite simply, none of these seemed to be working” according to J.C, the Production Manager at the site. “This is something different and we are very keen to consolidate our gains and roll-out the process.” Such comments came after the RCM Masterclass process delivered an increase in their OEE from a modest 67% to a world-class 82% throughout key lines.

The client company, part of large multi-site printing group, previously relied heavily on their original equipment manufacturer for maintenance support, predominantly a reactive strategy and proving to be extremely costly. After applying the RCM Masterclass such reliance has reduced significantly and the process has driven OEE from 52% to 62% within just 6 months of completing the study – a percentage which looks on target to increase to 72% by this time next year.
